There are many businesses that would benefit from sharing space. Share Shop Space has decided to focus on these 5 categories! Our idea is to centralize a directory with lots of options for sharing space including some non-traditional ideas!

  1. Retail – My initial idea for this website was sharing retail space or what they call co-retailing. I have had a boutique for years and found these amazing retail vendor marketplaces that allow you to rent a booth and sell your merchandise. They are mainly located in the south and southwest currently and as I have moved a few times to different parts of the country, I have struggled to find spaces local to my new location. I have booths out of state but none local and I really enjoy doing the merchandising myself. They are a large operation but there are many types of retail space ideas such as renting a booth as I mentioned above, renting shelves, being in a collective that integrates the merchandise into their store and it’s aesthetic, stores that allow wholesale merchandise or ones that only allow handmade items or other niche stores that allow you to sell your merchandise.
  2. Pop-ins/Pop-ups – Pop-ins are where the store allows you to come and be in their store for a limited time and Pop-ups are where you rent a space to be for a limited time. They both are a great way to see how the market responds to your product or merchandise. It also gets your name out there into the community.
  3. Vendor Event Space – Who doesn’t love a good vendor event? It is a great way to get your name out as well but you can do them as you have time. Some businesses are super successful at this and make great money doing a ton of vendor events. You can find any type of event that would work for your target customer!
  4. Warehouse Space – This one could be beneficial as well so that if you just need a small area of space and the person with the space has more then they need, you can help off-set the cost for them by paying for the portion you are using and as you may grow, you can get your own space. Great idea for someone who is looking to scale slowly.
  5. Antique Mall Space – A lot of antique malls rent space to vendors that sell! It is so fun to walk around and see all of the cool stuff that a vendor has curated. I have seen some antique malls that get a ton of traffic and it can be a great place to sell your merchandise!
  6. Salon Space- A lot of salon owners rent out to stylists, tanning, massage, makeup, lash artists, boutiques, etc. It is a great way to fill space and give your customers more options!
